Are you open to check
forgery?
- If someone
were to duplicate your checks and your bank cleared the check,
would you be liable?
- In the good
ole days your bank would have been responsible for cashing a forged
check.
- In the good
new days, you could now be responsible unless you have taken ordinary
care.
Leave it to
the legal system to create a term like ordinary care.
What does it mean? In order to protect the financial institutions
from being liable for forged checks, the law now states that you
must take pre-cautions to prevent forgery of your checks. Of course,
the government is having trouble doing this with our money, but
never the less, your business is expected to do this.
How do you take
ordinary care for your checks?
Here are
some examples
- Have a
tiny microprinted signature line
- Use tamper-resistant
color pantograph
- Use simulated
watermarks
Our
check forms already have these security features.
When you need to order new checks or if you want the protection
of ordinary care, call us for a quote. You may also want to check
with your bank for their requirements.
